The initial phase of this assignment was to conceptualise and devise a master plan for a tourist development that would fit into the area. The main objective was that it should be highly beneficial, becoming a top destination internationally.

As an architectural development, the goal was to imbue the project with a distinct and compelling identity, one that resonates with the architectural heritage of the region. By drawing inspiration from local styles and vernacular forms, the design sought to enhance its uniqueness through a respectful reinterpretation of tradition. It stood in conscious contrast to the often pretentious and disconnected developments of the time, instead embracing a more grounded and authentic approach. At the same time, the project aimed to drive innovation in the use of space, materials, and form—achieving a delicate balance between contemporary design thinking and the enduring spirit of the local architectural language.

The extended timeline of this urban development has fostered an ongoing reflection on the design solutions implemented, informed by the lived experiences of its users. This iterative process led to successive revisions of the original blueprint, allowing for continuous adaptation and refinement to better meet evolving needs. A clear course of action emerged, grounded in the aesthetic principles that provide unity and coherence to the overall composition. Concurrently, spatial configurations were re-evaluated and reworked during development to enhance functionality and responsiveness. The enduring success of this approach is evidenced by the project’s current status: in its mature phase, it stands as a globally recognised architectural benchmark—both a model of adaptability and a testament to the value of thoughtful, user-informed design.
