This project consists of 55 apartments in blocks on a plot measuring 21,543 m2 located on one of the highest hills in Los flamingos complex in Benahavís. This project was designed with the remit of having all rooms and living areas of the homes facing outward, since it was essential to provide views of the golf course and the sea. This creates a more horizontal alignment, which helped us to position the blocks in relation to each other and the ground in a more open and inclusive way. By creating various platforms between blocks to house the gardens and pools we treated the platforms as volumes in their own right and so integration is achieved amongst all the elements, yielding a uniform reading.

The blocks were designed in a different architectural style to what had become standard in the area, conferring a unique personality. Platforms designed were arranged so that the blocks would not interrupt each other’s views, creating visual harmony throughout.

“From knowledge, feelings and emotions develop, as well as enjoyment of and respect for them.”

The houses consist of an entrance hall that leads to all of the units, as well as to a toilet. The kitchen was planned to be semi open to the living dining room in order to enjoy the views from there. The living dining room is a large space protected by a porch, which in turn forms an outdoor living space. The rooms all have views to the front, directly over the golf course and the sea. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and all rooms are designed with proportions that give a great sense of space and comfort, with viewpoints as part of the visual finishing touches in the interior pathways.

This project, located in the Los flamingos complex in Benahavís, was a major challenge because of the existing topography and shape of the plot, which could easily obstruct views. The key prerequisites for the design were that all rooms should face outwards and that despite being built in blocks they should have the look of a village built into the hillside.

There are 54 apartments in six blocks on a plot of land measuring 16,530 m2. Two different types of blocks make up the design template. The architec- ture is integrated by creating volumes, walls, platforms and terraced gardens between blocks, endowing the ensemble with a visual identity. The various blocks were developed in such a way that there is minimal visual interference between them and they all have views overlooking the hotel, the golf course and the sea.

“Everything human changes, as does architecture and the way we look at it.”
